Q : What does Al Dente Mean ?
A : In cooking, the Italian expression al dente describes pasta that has been cooked so as to be firm but not hard. The term, derived from the Italian language means ‘to the tooth” referring to the need to chew the pasta due to its firmness.
Q : Should I rinse my pasta after it is cooked ?
A : ONLY if you are par boiling and plan on heating it in the future.
Q : Should I add salt to the water my pasta is cooked in ?
A : Yes, it brings out the flavour of the pasta. Add 1 tbsp. to 3 litres of water before pasta is placed in water.
Q : Should I stir the pasta while it is cooking ?
A : Yes, immediately after placing pasta in boiling water, stir gently for 10 seconds. This will separate pasta so it won’t stick together or stick to bottom of pot.
Q : My pasta is sticky, help!
A : You are not using enough water. Use 3 litres of water to every 350g of pasta.
Q : What is the best way to add sauce to my pasta ?
A : Drain pasta for 30 seconds, place back into cooking pot, and toss in 1 tbsp. of butter (optional), add your favourite Duso’s Sauce.
Q : Do I need to cook Lasagna Sheets ?
A : No, you blanch them in boiling water for 1 minute. If you are in a rush and don’t have time to blanch, you can use Lasagna Sheets right out of package by following these simple instructions: 1. Dust off flour. 2. Add ¼ cup of water to every 700ml of sauce (for a 9x12 sized pan.)

A : Yes, you can freeze our Pasta & Sauces for up to 6 months. Be sure to cook pasta for an additional 2 minutes when using from frozen state.
